Nifast, receives its FETAC Certificate in a presentation by Stan McHugh, Chief Executive Officer with FETAC in Croke Park on April 4 2006.

Newcourt, Ireland’s leading outsourced services group buys Nifast.

Harry Mulhern, Portering Safety Representative in Beaumont Hospital, Dublin wins NISO Safety Representative of the Year 2006 in association with Nifast and Waterford Crystal.

2005
September 1st 2005 sees the new Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 come into force in Ireland. Over 700 delegates attend Nifast Safety Act seminars nationwide.

50 Dublin City Council Staff awarded the Nifast Safety Health and Welfare at Work Certificate.

Nifast staff raise €1,800 for Victims of the Tsunami Disaster.

2004
Much heralded Personal Injuries Assessment Board is up and running by June 1 2004. Nifast welcomes its implementation. By end of 2006 PIAB will have issued 6,524 Assessments (or Awards).

Regina D’Arcy of the South Infirmary Cork wins 2004 NISO Safety of the Year Award in association with Nifast and Waterford Crystal.

FAS offers 40%-60% funding on selected Nifast courses under the Competency Development Programme.

Supplement to Raymond Byrne’s “Safety, Health & Welfare at Work in
Ireland: A Guide” is published.

Nifast Seminars on the General Application Regulations 2003 in Cork and
Dublin are enthusiastically attended by employers from all over Ireland.

Coyle Hamilton celebrates its centenary 1903-2003.

2002
The NISO Safety Representative of the Year Award is relaunched in association with Nifast and Waterford Crystal, well deserved winner is Garda Patrick Donnelly.

“Road Safety – An Employer’s Responsibility” is widely attended by safety and fleet managers who come to learn more about the need to put occupational road risk on the agenda. Mr Eddie Shaw, Chairman of the National Safety Council who chaired the conference in his concluding remarks tells delegates that they have “received a goldmine of information on practical solutions to this important workplace issue”.

2001
Nifast launches the Safety Representatives Network.

Launch of new corporate identity, trading as Nifast.

In May, ISO 9001: 2000 accreditation is gained and a major expansion of Consultancy services begins.

Language and health and safety become a real issue – clients start sending Interpreters with employees on training courses.

Nifast ask Minister to establish a Government Task Force on occupational road safety to assist employers take greater initiatives to prevent “at work” road safety accidents.

Ray Byrne’s “Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Law in Ireland: A Guide” published by Nifast, is launched. The definitive guide to health and safety law in Ireland.

2000
New Training Centre for Cork at Donnybrook bringing RTITB accredited training programmes to the Munster region and the first bespoke health and safety training centre in the region.

In November, the business in the Republic of Ireland is acquired by The Coyle Hamilton Group – Ireland’s largest independent owned Insurance Broker.

Nifast Seminar addresses workplace stress.

1999
Company changes name to NIFAST Liberty Risk Services.

Demand for Nifast seminar on Parental Leave, Maternity and Bullying requires a second one to be run.

Introduction to Environmental Management courses begin.

Nifast are appointed joint consultants with Gibb Rail and Currie and Brown to head up the implementation of the Iarnrod Eireann report on rail safety in Ireland. Nifast consultant Willie Walsh appointed to the project.

First year of the Nifast/DCU Graduate Diploma in Health and Safety with thirty students.

1998
New training centre is opened in Belfast.

With the increasing compensation culture, safety officers demand training in Courtroom Skills provided by Nifast in association with La Touche Bond Solon.

Major demand for services in relation to workplace Bullying. Nifast provides one day workshops in association with Tim Field of the Anti Bullying Advice Centre.

Nifast becomes the first Irish organisation to gain RTITB accreditation for its forklift truck courses to Instructor level and of the Dublin Training Centre.

Nifast Driver Training Instructors receive Advanced Drivers Diploma from RoSPA. Decision Driver Training programmes are offered for Four Wheel Drive vehicles due to the increase in usage of this type of vehicle for marketing purposes.

1997
‘Safe Manual Handling – a users guide to protect your back from injury’ is published by Nifast.

Nifast celebrates its 10th birthday.

Corporate Attitudes to Health and Safety is published by Nifast, based on market research commissioned with Lansdowne Market Research. Main finding concludes that 80% of companies in Ireland will increase spend on health and safety.

1996
An office is opened in Belfast.

Nifast Seminars on Pregnant Employees Regulations are attended by over 200 safety and human resource managers.

1995
Nifast is acquired by Liberty Mutual, the largest worker compensation Insurer in the USA.

12 officers of the Malaysian Fire Brigade arrive in Dublin to train at Dublin Fire Brigade Training centre at Marino, in association with Nifast.

A series of seminars are brought around the country in association with CIF, further to the introduction of the Construction Regulations.

Nifast manual handling training course develops to include a competency assessment of each individual who is trained, signed by the participant and Instructor further to the publication of Guidelines for manual handling training by the Health and Safety Authority.

1994
A new division – Fleet Safety Services is launched to improve occupational road safety. Decision Driver Training becomes a key part of organisations’ fleet management programmes.

The first course in violence and aggression in the workplace course is delivered, as acknowledgement of the breadth of workplace risk begins to sink in.

1993
The Safety Representative of the Year Award is launched by Nifast in association with Waterford Crystal and NISO.

1992
Dublin premises move to new Training Centre in Santry which houses 3 full sized training rooms, meeting rooms and warehouse.

Intel arrives in Ireland and commissions Nifast to set up health and safety training for staff. Nifast Instructors visit US operations to learn the Intel Way.

1991
A consulting project commences which involves conducting Safety Audits in every prison in Ireland, demonstrating the effect the 1989 Act has on the public sector.

Safety Managers from Saudi Arabia and Qatar arrive in Dublin to attend a Nifast eight week course for Safety Managers.

1990
Nifast cannot keep up with the demand for its training courses on How to Write a Safety Statement as employers begin to address the requirements of the 1989 Act.

1989
A milestone year – the introduction of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act.
The first Nifast Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Certificate programme is delivered, a first step in a formal qualification in Health & Safety.

The Cork office opens on Washington Street.

1988
The Nifast Manual Handling Instructor programme becomes recognised as the definitive standard for this type of training.
