Under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006 Safe Pass / Safety Awareness Programmes applies to: (a) Craft and general construction workers, (b) Persons undertaking on-site security work, and (c) Persons or classes of persons as may be prescribed by the Minister Course Details This course is for all construction site and local authority workers (including apprentices and trainees) to ensure that they have a fundamental knowledge of health and safety. Who should attend? Essentially any worker, who alters, interferes or changes a building must in time have a Safe Pass card. The requirement applied to all workers in the construction sector on 01/06/03 last. Cards must be refreshed every 4 years. Course Objectives The programme aims to alert all site personnel of the inherent hazards of construction sites. To increase safety awareness within the construction industry, to ensure that all site personnel undergo basic health and safety awareness training and to supply all participants with a FAS Safe Pass Registration card, indicating that the holder has attended a formal course in health and safety awareness
– Promoting a Safety Culture – Duties & Responsibilities at work – Accident Reporting & Prevention – Working at heights – Excavations & Confined Spaces – Working with Electricity and overhead services – Personal Protective Equipment – Use of hand held equipment, tools and machinery – Safe use of vehicles – Noise & Vibration – Manual Handling – Health & Hygiene – Test English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Nifast. Pre-Course Requirements Participants must have a good working knowledge of the English language. Courses can be delivered in languages other than English through prior arrangement with Nifast and where all participants on the same course speak the same language All participants must have two passport photographs with them for registration on the day of training Assessment/Certification Participants complete a written exam On successful completion of the exam participants will be issued with a FAS Safe Pass card Please Note: All participants must arrive at 8.15 am sharp for course registration. Delegates who arrive late will unfortunately not be permitted to complete the programme.
