Course Details

This new course will equip participants with the necessary skills to ensure that their organisation has a thorough Accident Investigation system. Further to the introduction of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB) it is vital that organisations have a robust and efficient accident investigation system.

This course is designed to ensure that following an accident a thorough investigation takes place to establish the root cause of the accident. This will prevent a recurrence of the accident, ensure that necessary steps are taken to improve safety programmes, procedures and equipment design. This course will provide participants with the mechanism to obtain detailed and accurate information and statistics regarding all accidents.

Objectives
On completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Explain the role of accident investigation in safety management systems
  • Describe a contemporary model of accident investigation
  • List the components of an accident investigation
  • Apply the correct steps in conducting an accident/incident investigation
  • Develop accident/incident investigation files
  • Describe the legal implications with respect to accidents in the workplace
  • Explain the role and function of the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB)

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to nifast.
