DAYS 1 – 3

FETAC Occupational First Aid Certificate

  • First Aid in the Workplace
  • Patient Assessment
  • Respiratory Emergencies
  • Cardiac First Response
  • Wounds and Bleeding
  • Altered Levels of Consciousness
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries
  • Burns, Scalds, Chemicals & Electric Shock

DAY 4

Patient Handling

  • State the Relevant Safety Legislation
  • Identify Risks of Working with Patients
  • Move, Handle and Transfer Patients Safely
  • Describe the Limitations of the Spine and Methods of Lifting / Movement which can Protect the Back
  • Recognise Loads which are too Heavy or Awkward for One or Two Persons

DAY 5

Drugs and Alcohol Awareness

  • Introduction to Drug and Alcohol Use and Misuse
  • Head Shops – So Called Legal Highs
  • Legal Drugs v's Illegal Drugs
  • Different Classifications of Drugs
  • Drugs Case
  • Summary and Support Services

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Nifast.
