This comprehensive four day Further Education and Training Awards Council (FETAC) Train the Trainer level 6 Component certificate course is designed to equip Learners with the best knowledge and skills necessary to design, deliver, assess and evaluate Training programmes as outlined in Module E30179. The programme is designed for both new and experienced trainers and will be tailored to address the needs of each participant.

This course will ensure that trainers have the essential competencies necessary to meet the training challenges that they are faced with in today's changing world.  Some of the Trainer Competencies we focus on during the "Train the Trainer Programme" include: The Role of the Training Organisation and the Trainer, Understanding Learner Motivations, Training Analysis Methods, Trainer Preparation and Effective Learning Methods, Communication and Feedback for Trainers, Evaluation, Assessment, and ensuring Equality for Learners. 

The course will provide you with an in depth practical and theoretical understanding of the role and function of training in the business environment. You will gain an invaluable insight into the knowledge, skills and attitudes that successful trainers need to design, deliver, assess and evaluate high quality training

Course Programme

Theory of Training and Adult Learning

  • To develop an understanding of the theory of training and adult learning.

The Role of the Trainer

  • To provide the trainees with the skills and knowledge which will enable them to understand the subject matter and identify the professional requirements of the role of the trainer.

Training Needs Analysis & Programme Design

  • To provide the trainees with the skills and knowledge which will enable them to understand the subject matter and identify the learning objectives of prioritising learning needs in programme design.

Preparing for Training Delivery

  • To provide the participants with the skills and knowledge which will enable them understand the subject matter and identify the learning objectives of preparation in training delivery.

Delivery and Assessment

  • To provide the participants with the skills and knowledge which will enable them understand the subject matter and apply the learning objectives of the different stages of training delivery and assessment.

Evaluation of Training

  • To provide the participants with the skills and knowledge which will enable them understand the subject matter and dentify the learning objectives of delivering & evaluating training.  To be able to evaluate and implement a programme improvement plan based on training delivery.

Methods of Training

The course will incorporate a wide range of interactive training tools including games, ice breakers and visual presentations. Group work, individual tasks, simulation exercises using CCTV and workbook exercises with a strong emphasis on practical application throughout. This course is extremely interactive providing participants with the opportunity to prepare and practice their skills demonstration.

The programme is designed for both new and experienced trainers and all those involved in carrying out training.

Pre-Course Requirements: FETAC level 5 Certificate and/or relevant life and work experiences and/or leaving Certificate or equivalent qualifications.

Assessment/Certification: Participants are required to complete an assignment and make Skills demonstration as indicated below. The fair and consistent assessment of learners is paramount to Nifast and is implemented through our QA system. All assessments are carried out in accordance with FETAC regulations and are internally verified and externally authenticated before certification is issued. All participants have the right to appeal their result and all appeals will be dealt with in accordance with the Nifast FETAC appeals procedure. All participants who successfully complete the written and practical assessments will be awarded with a FETAC Level 6 component certificate in Train the Trainer. Participants will be given clear guidelines on how the assignment should be completed. The skills demonstration element will be completed and assessed during the course.

Assignment

Each candidate must present an assignment which demonstrates their understanding of how to plan, research, conduct and evaluate a training session. The assignment should identify theoretical understanding and practical application on a range of specific learning outcomes. The brief will require the candidate to research and present information in relation to adult learning, services or issues. The assignment must be presented in written or type format.

The brief will require the learner to research and present information in relation to adult training, services or issues. The evidence may be presented in a variety of media eg: written, audio, video, graphic, visual formats.

The assignment will be given to the delegates at the end of the course and must be submitted 4 weeks following course completion.

Skills Demonstration

In two or more demonstrations , candidates will be assessed in th following areas:

  • Presentation Skills
  • Oral Presentation Skills
  • Use of visual aids
  • Use of learning materials
  • Demonstration skills

The presentation should address the specific learning outcomes of the candidates chosen subject as agreed with the examiner. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills in their presentation using appropriate visual aids such as handouts, flip charts, overhead projectors etc.

Grading

  • Pass 50-64%
  • Merit 65-79%
  • Distinction 80-100%

Please note that this is a modular course. Each course has its own specific timetable and participants are not encouraged to attend later modules or exam days on alternative courses, but Nifast will accommodate when possible the transfer to a later course/examination when participants cannot complete the course due to circumstances outside their control.
