| This 1 day course is intended for all employees/road workers who are required to be involved in both rural and urban roadwork`s on all road types. Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006, this training is mandatory from July 2009.
According to current safety regulations there must be a trained and competent person present at all times while road-works are taking place. This FAS approved course fills the legal requirement for this role. The training is mandatory under Reg. 97 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006. Who should attend? All employees/operatives who wish to maintain temporary traffic management systems in place at roadwork`s, in both rural and urban situations, and to understand the risks to their own safety and to that of their colleagues from passing traffic and the need to avoid creating dangers for the general public and road users. Course Content
English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Nifast. Course Objectives The aim of this course is to train & assess road workers on Health and Safety at Roadwork`s and to train those required to assist the SLG cardholder at roadworks. On completion of this one-day course participants will be able to:
Pre-Course Requirements Participants must have a valid Safe Pass card before attending this course. Participants must have a good working knowledge of the English language. Courses can be delivered in languages other than English through prior arrangement with Nifast and where all participants on the same course speak the same language. Assessment/Certification: Participants will complete a written assessment. On successful completion participants will be issued with a FAS CSCS card for Health and Safety at Roadwork`s. The certificate is valid for 5 years. Participants who successfully complete this course will be trained to protect themselves, their colleagues, and the public at roadworks, gain a greater understanding of the risks involved with roadworks, be motivated to work safely at roadworks and to minimise traffic disruption to road users and the general public. Tutors - Delivered by FÁS-Registered Instructor Please Note: ·All participants must arrive at 8.30 am sharp for course registration. ·Participates who arrive late will unfortunately not be permitted to complete the programme.
PLEASE NOTE: Signing Lighting and Guarding (SLG) cardholders are not compelled to attend this course. Please let us know if participants have any specific learner requirements. Please Note: Mileage @ €0.50 per km and accommodation @ €110 per night is charged for all courses outside of Cork, Dublin & Galway.
