This is a basic first aid awareness course, which provides participants with a very good grounding in the principles of emergency first aid. The programme can be tailored to specific industrial and commercial business sectors, e.g. the construction industry, the food industry, the printing industry, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and transport.

Objectives
On completion of the course participants will be able to:

• Assess the extent of injury
• Provide emergency First Aid in the workplace
• Deal effectively with common workplace injuries

• Responsibilities of a First Aider, assessment and initial reaction
• Diagnosis and principles of treatment
• Patient approach
• Examination of casualty
• Electric burns
• Wounds and bleeding
• CPR
• Course review

English is the language in which training is delivered and participants must have a good command of the English language. If participants wish to bring an interpreter they may do so but prior notice must be given to Nifast.
